How long have you owned your business?
We opened in July of 1988 as a Color Your World. Fred was a painter for 20 years before that.
What was the inspiration to start your business?
At that time Bobcaygeon was really starting to grow and we could see the need to decorate all the new homes that were being built. It was a natural fit for our family – we had lots of knowledge we could share with customers.
What is your favourite part of being a small business owner?
Meeting and interacting with our customers. Bobcaygeon has attracted a huge cross-section of people and the guy or gal who you are selling a quart of paint to could have lived in 10 different countries, been the vice president of a large corporation or flown Lancasters in World War 2.
What do you wish people knew about your business?
We are more than just a paint store. We sell flooring, window coverings, tile & wallpaper. We have the largest stock of Schluter tile accessories in the area. And that we pride ourselves on really knowing our products.
Who is your greatest supporter?
I would say our greatest supporters are our local contractors. They have been with us through thick and thin.
What are you most proud of about your business?
That we sell quality products and give out quality advice. There is a satisfaction with informing customers on the proper way to do things.

Colourful.
