Q&A with Adam Hayward

How long have you owned your business?

The previous owner had a Location over on Lindsay street in 1977 and I think he moved here in 1980. I took over in 2000.

What was the inspiration to start your business?

I was working here before hand, kinda after high school and trying to be a banker or a school teacher. But the world wasn't looking for bankers or school teachers then so I ended up making Jim an offer. So when I came back from school he took the offer and we’ve been going ever since.

What is your favourite part of being a small business owner?

I’m lucky enough that I can work in Lindsay and raise my family here in Lindsay. There is no place like Lindsay and the City of Kawartha Lakes.

What do you wish people knew about your business?

We have beef, pork and chicken, but we take it one step further. Instead of just your roast here we’re trying to find new ways of adding value to it.

Who is your greatest supporter?

By having a small community here, supporting your local, supporting your neighbour, your neighbours support you. I’m able to have kids go to school here, and hopefully raise their kids here one day. So it really does help us all.
